Default Members location map

A question was asked a while ago about members locations .

Available now via Google maps is a customisable map by members

You will need to register for a free google account to edit the map and add your locations .

If you do not want to put your postcode in for security reasons than a general location is good enough .

Pinpointing museums and rally sites would be good too

The Stationary engine forum map can be viewed here

Default A quick tutotial

I have had a few PM's about this and it seems that some people cant do it .

Go to Google and sign up for a free gmail account ( you dont need to use this as your main email)

Then come back here and click on the map link HERE

When the page has loaded click on " save to my maps "

This will then give you the ability to edit the map .

Put your location in the search box and click " search"

your location is then pinpointed by the software and you are given a few options in the box ( Blue writing )

Click " save to my maps " and then add your text .

When you have added your text click on Save .

It was that simple I had to get a twelve year old to show me how

I can only get the 'Save to My Maps' button if I am NOT signed in with my Gmail email name, otherwise I cannot do anything with it at all.

Then, when I click on that, it asks me to sign in....

Then I cannot do sod-all with it anyway!

I have a feeling that this ain't goin' to fly using Opera.

Giving it up as a bad job.

You need to type your location in the Search bar Which is on top of the page and then click Search maps

I don't think so, Dave, you need to be able to add a location, but I could not find any way of doing it. Might be browser-related as I mentioned above.

That's the problem! None of us are 12-year olds....

Step one

Put your location in the long box

Step two
I have used Bristol zoo as an example Click search maps and you get this

Step three

Click on " Save to my maps "in the pop up box and you get this

Make sure that you click "Save " when the map you want to save it to is in the box "

Step four

Edit the details in the pop up box

Step five

Click Done on the side of the map

If it says "save" click that too
Step six

Pat yourself on the back
