That D ran really well , There was another " Fallen over D " that was for sale at the rally and I think it was the one that was discussed on the forum a while ago

I don't know if there are "official" figures, but No.1 Son walked round on Sunday and counted every engine on the display lines (not dealers, club tent, etc.). He came up with 494. I think there were possibly more on Saturday, but some left, and more arrived on Sunday.

The "fallen over D" is certainly interesting although the bruston one in the pictures is certainly nicer!

I was suprised the saftey officer did not stop the engine in the above photo from running as the 'fuel tank' is abouit as dangerous as you can get. Maybe he did not see it.

He may have missed that Andy but he did stop the chaps with the multitude of line shafting and flailing belts that were driven by a Petter M from continuing with the engine belted up. They were the chaps going about with the 'wooden shoes'.....
I also walked by as a Bamford? at the back or where your engines were spat out parts of its governor (about 6 feet in the air!) and came to a grinding halt, sounded rather expensive...! All in all a good weekend...!!

). This was due to the governor arm having no sleeve on the end, thus making it ineffective. After a while the governor spring on the flywheel departed and the governors locked in full throttle and shattered. The casting that was broken could be easily repaired, but wouldnt look pretty. Ideally it would need re-casting. |
