Karl.
6024 is having slimline cylinders fitted I believe. Are they going for fabricated cylinders (i'd heard that mentioned in some circles) or new cast?

Might be an option for 6023 if network rail continue to get restrictive on gauging.

Paul.

Paul.
6024 has new cast cylinders made, one is fitted the other not far behind.
They also have a multi millionaire owner we don't have that luxury. We have just gained gauging clearance to get to a certain railway in the midlands and need to have all repairs etc finished by Feb18th
Karl.

This is true Karl.

That being said 6024 got by for many years in a similar way to yourselves, it is only this recent rebuild that has seen them brought into the Hosking fold.

Indeed. Now you mention it Karl, something was said some time back about 3672 "Dame Vera Lynn", it did the best part of what was (i believe) 100,000 miles in its last working stint at the NYMR, and the then Manager said, it was the last 25,000 that did all the damage. To my mind surely then, something was missing from the maintenance regime, as the "damage" was to the bottom end, and components were run for far longer than they should have been.

On a brighter note, I am very much looking forward to seeing 6023 and 6024 back in working order together. throw some Castles in there, a Grange, a Saint, and No.6000 and i'll be there!

Paul.

as well as Stationary Engines I enjoys steam hauled/modern chartered trips and regular visits to Preserved Railways. I make track side visits to photograph passing steam, my local places are Sandy Station or Everton Level Crossing.
Tomorrow I'm on a chartered trip aboard two Javelin train sets travelling Kent with a 140 mph blast along the high speed track to Ashford where we then head to Folkstone, a week tomorrow I'm off to the GCR for their "Last Hurrah" to spend the day enjoying five working loco's, a diesel, double heading and goods trains to photograph.
