So you have to be there early and put the equivalent of the "towel on the sun lounger"?

Stuart.

Probably best to get to most of the 2 day shows about Monday before.

Even Astle who had a "no entry before Thursday lunchtime" always seemed to have a lot of people set up beforehand....

No. If you work for a living just ask a retired person with time on their hands to rope off a huge area for you...

I can tell that you are not retired then Dan!! I tend to try and save a place in the line if I know that one of my elderly and infirm club members is coming as he needs assistance to load/unload/start his engine but otherwise it is first come first served, if you want to be next to somebody then make sure you arrive together. We (Anne and Myself) have had places reserved for us at some rallies owing to our 'circumstances' for which we are both greatfull for, but if that doesn't happen then we just make the best of the situation.

I do get a regular earful from one local engine exhibitor (Miley_Bob will guess who I mean!) saying that "nobody should be on site at any rally until Friday evening at the earliest as folk coming earlier get the best spots" but in the days when we took the caravan it was nice to arrive on a Thursday afternoon and just chill out for a day before the weekends events began. I appreciate that everybody can't do that so it seems unfair to rope off a large area early doors fot those arriving after work etc as cancellations do occour?

Pete.

Gentlemen
I must admit that sitting with a cup of tea and biscuit watching the world go by is a fascinating past time.
Their is a couple opposite me, in the trade section, putting up a large sent whose frame seems to be made of scaffold size sectioned alluminium poles, the weather keeps them diving for cover, I've offered to help but so far they have declined.

They have just dived for cover again.

Curiously, sitting in a damp field for days waiting for a rally to start does not appeal to me in the least and if that's what it takes to be a serious exhibitor, I think I'll stay on the other side of the ropes!

Nick ,

Its only damp outside, I've got friends I haven't seen for nearly thirty years next to me, I've got my engine in position and riding around the stalls on my scooter keeps me amused. I've got plenty to read and Lyn is enjoying the peace and quiet.
By being here early there is no rush to get the tent up your exhibit in place and you can relax and watch others struggle

A day or to before wouldn't bother me but hopping from field to field doesn't appeal in the slightest, I like my own bed too much...
