This is the tap that was fitted to my 1928 A16, which I believe was original.

ha ha! oh right maybe i wont be ordering one then!! I know a bloke who has a barn full of old bits and pieces like that so i think i'll be going having a root and seeing what i can find and thanks to the brilliant Doreen Edgington i now have a date for my engine which is september 17th 1929

A tap is a tap, as long as it works, that is all part of it's history. Shouldn't be too hard to find a lister one though if you want to.

Perfectly nice tap, you'd have to be a pretty serious rivet counter to complain that it wasn't OE.

I've just collected my reconditioned magneto and i'm just wondering if any one has any hints or tips for putting it back on?? I've read about how to time it up again but not sure if there's anything else i need to do??

Make sure you have a good earth contact between the mag,the base plate and any shims.scrape any paint off the base plate and make sure the shims a clean and rust free.
