Pity the Ghurkas who had to try and follow opposing instructions!

Bet she had more firepower!

EDIT; I guess the more mobile exhibits are easier to organise on the fly than engines.

If you look at the tail end of the thread about the previous event http://www.stationary-engine.net/for...ad.php?t=36841 you will see that the, shall we say 'relaxed' attitude worked well in other respects. I commented at the time "everybody seemed to get by with a good old British spirit of mutual respect rather than being corralled by miles of barriers and folk in yellow tabards. Reminded me a bit of Knowl Hill in its heyday"

Sadly "Behind two fences & a road" is actually a perfectly good description of the positioning of the engines!

Fortunately the plus points far outweighed the minus - from a visitor's point of view anyway - and as I said, we have bought tickets for next year's event already.

I had heard a few rumours about past events, but i was willing to give it a go this year. After making my application i was informed by email within a couple of days that there would be no room for any stationary engines this year.

Doesn't surprise me after previous fiasco, but I can thoroughly recommend a visit for the rest of the show. As I said earlier in this thread, I am informed by Helen that not every day out has to revolve around stationary engines!
