Already bought our tickets for this - was brilliant last time (2014).

Wasn't too clever for the SE exhibitors though!

That is true, but I am informed by Helen that not every day out has to revolve around stationary engines

I haven't heard from them, so probably we won't be invited back.

Peter,

We attended the first Fawley Hill and never got a repeat invite. If you want to go, apply. Just the way its run I think, no hard feelings.

I'm not breaking my neck to go back there, they owe us for the shambles of 2014, especially Anton who came over from Holland with his engine to be at the show as an exhibitor.

Yes it was less than ideal being basically in a cage on the edge of the camping site. Shame really as the rest of the event was remarkable. EDIT; Add in the kind of engine display you get at, say, the '1000' or Ducklington and it would be little short of the perfect day out for me!

It was the same in 2013 and doubt it will be any different in 2016. It is after all primarily a Steam event. It does however support a lot of charities and if you attend as an exhibitor, you can register your charity for a slice of the takings. So its a worthy cause and worth a look to see the Mc Alpine empire. Just be prepared for hassle and to organise yourself.

Yes, but having all the engines grouped far away from the public is just stupid, especially so when they are a 'spectator sport' rather than something sitting there doing nothing like some of the exhibits.

By the time realisation had set in it was too late to change, so we stuck it out until the Monday.

There really wasn't enough room for everything, parking was over-full where we were and although there were areas where we could have gone on the Friday, by Saturday it was too late.

He wanted us in the main area, she wanted her steam engines and military stuff in there and they argued about it in front of everyone.

Pity the Ghurkas who had to try and follow opposing instructions!
