Default Help - Fridge Burner Woe

With our first rally in 3 days time, the fridge burner on our motor home has given up the ghost. We had a gas check done, and the fridge burner failed. The local motor home place who did the gas check say it "needs a new burner, and they are no longer available, sir".

To save us from warm milk, does anyone know somewhere who could fix this for us ? I'll have a go at most things, but i wont touch gas. Knowing the vast ingenuity and knowledge on this site, someone may have encountered this problem before. A new fridge is 700, so that ain't gonna happen.

I realise this is not stationary engine related, but there is a tenuous link, as we will be using the motor home for rallying. It's a 1990 Mercedes Hymer S550.

If it is a Dometic fridge, then it will be Electrolux-based.

Get the model number of the fridge and post it here, there are lots of spares sources.

On mine, the fridge type label is inside on the side of the fridge between the shelves.

Suggestions from a query I posted on the motorhome forum:

"Try Malcolm Rode 07973440235 ex Electrolux and very good, he's in the Midlands. Did ours no problems." Posted by NigelT

"He'll need to check that label you referred him to, as he'll need the model and serial number for ordering spares. I get my fridge spares mail order through Ashbridge Domestic Supplies**. Ordered on the Monday, delivered on the Tuesday afternoon, and fitted by the Wednesday morning." Posted by JockandRita

Peter that's so kind of you to help with this. I wouldn't have had a clue where to start. I will follow up the leads you mention.

You were quite right, it is an electrolux, Here is a picture of the label,

And here is the burner, looking quite rusty, unfortunately

Also, thanks to your friends on the motorhome forum, it looks like the sort of place we should be joining !

All the best

Mark
