Default Carette engine

I would very much like to own one of those. Anyone like to sell me one ?

Or put me on to one for 10 reward leading to a successful purchase.

I didn't say who had it to respect the owners privacy.

Hi Martin, I am about to buy a Carette rotary valve engine which is missing the cast iron flame deflector, Burner and hot tube. I should be able to make the last two items and In the past I have used a local foundry for castings thus a pattern for replacement deflector should present no problem but I have no measurements to go by. I would be grateful for any help with dimensions of these parts as I do hope to get the engine running eventually.

Thanks, Mike

Mike,

I'm sorry but I no longer have mine.

Lovely little thing. Can you imagine giving a kid a toy with open gears nowadays. You'd be arrested for child endangerment

Yes, but in those days the process of 'natural selection' was still at work; any kids still alive by the time they were old enough to play with an engine like that were probably bright enough to know that it wasn't a good idea to stick their fingers in gears or hug exhaust pipes!

Joking aside, I suspect it would have been one of those "Watch Daddy" type toys.
