No easy way to test it without specialst equipment.

Ok ummmm what are the other possible causes of no spark
definatly gonna change the ht lead as you call it. Maby an earth wire could help
if I were to use a coil what would I google to find one

The next thing to replace would be the condenser, they regularly fail, I always replace them on any engine. To test it, you need a special tester that applies a high voltage to it, whilst testing for capacitance and leakage. Most places won't have them now as modern ignition systems don't need them. You’re lucky the coil is good as they are impossible to buy new and very expensive to get rewound.
Do you have a Maplins or RS components in Australia?

Condenser
Connect one let to a wire leading to the points, one leg to ground.

Yup. A condenser is a capacitor, just under a different name.

ok just wondering what time it is over where you are

ive emailed a electronics parts shop i use regularly to se if they have on just put a link to that page and said "do you have"

should be able to get it this weekend.... if they have one
