Default WD Spark plug

Hi, I have just bought a 1947 Wolesley WD 2 engine, the spark plug in it is a long reach plug but I thought the WD2 should have a short reach plug, could somebody clarify this for me please and tell me which is the best grade of plug for the engine.
Thanks, Bernard.
