Default Lister A type

Hi all, collected a Lister A yesterday that I have been waiting to collect for 18 months, it's a 1948 spec A29 and its on a original Lister A trolley. It has sat in the guys shed for over 15 years and not been touched. The exhaust valve was stuck open, governor linkages were partially stuck, cam follower was stuck open and the fuel tank was full of loose corrosion.

Today I have oiled and freed the linkages, stripped and rebuilt the fuel pump, freed up the exhaust valve, freed up the cam follower. I used pebbles and fuel to clean the inside of the fuel tank and will use tank sealer to finish it of. I then cleaned the points, put a new plug in and tightend up everything and gave her a swing. After about 5 swings she fired and went for over a hour with no issues. Im very pleased with how it has turned out.

Thanks, Matt.

I hope you changed the engine oil and cleaned the sump out too before firing it up?

Hello all
Congratulations are in order. A really nice find of an original looking A on it's original trolley. And well done on getting her going again. Spectacular is the word I'm looking for.

I notice she sounds like she's starving for fuel a bit. It might be worthwhile to check the fuel level in the carbi. I'd also check the timing and/or spark.

Cheers Scott

Hi thank you for all the comments, I have checked the timing this afternoon and put a new HT lead on and a new plug. I then adjusted the governor. I had it running for a hour this afternoon and think it is running a lot better now, what do you think ?

Hello Matt
That's made a world of difference. You've got to be happy about the way she runs now.
Cheers then
