Looks like its back on ebay. Different seller different location, higher price, but same engine.

I know tappets are routinely offset from the valve stems (the tappet often being intended to rotate, spreading any wear), but these ones really do appear to have only a nodding acquaintance.

I would agree. Some better pictures from this vendor. I would wager that the cylinder (which looks like Veteran Motorcycle) was never closely acquainted with that crankcase in the first 50 years of its life.

The water cooled Norman D is the same with regard to tappet offset.
