Me??

Maybe in jest. I will admit to seeing the A1 as "Another Petter A1" but I do like them as an engine, and I have always turned to them when I wanted a power source for something, first shed had a 3hp A1 on a genny for power, first mixer had a A1, and I have had 3 sawbench setups over the years with A1 Petters on them.

Default Belt and Puylleys

While looking at the saw and engine I thought to myself, do I need a 4 vee pulley/belt setup? My saw has been running with 3 belts now for about 3 years now with no problems, now I want to replace the pulleys as they are pitted quite badly and was wondering it a 2 vee pulley would be good enough or should I stick to 4vee?

Not the best looking things at all, but having had a few A1's myself, I know what you mean.

Simplicity does it for me - I like simple, compact engines that are easy to work with.

Been a bit slow this one but today I ordered myself a set of pulleys, belts and also some new bearings for the saw as the drive side is a bit "roomy", about 1/8" of room to be honest.

Am now thinking of a way I can mount the whole thing on wheels to make moving it easy, got to be easier to move the saw to the wood pile than move the wood pile to the saw!

Had a delivery while I was at Astle, nice box full of replacement bits for the saw and engine.

I went for 3 vee pulleys with a slightly larger one on the engine to make up for the 1000rpm running speed compared to the 1500rpm of the old A1.

New set of bearings for the saw as they are buggered so now I need some time to sort it all out.

Next thing will be wheels as its a pain having to keep moving it with a sack truck.

And perhaps the offer of prosthetic limbs if things don't go quite according to plan!
