Default Lister b main bearings how much play is to much

I’m just wondering how much play is to much when it comes to main bearings.
On mine the side with the drive pully has a small amount of play the other has none.
Thanks

Whilst your idea of small and my idea of small might be different, on the face of it I would say your B will be absolutely fine. If you can pull the crankshaft sideways out of the case then they might be a little worn...!

Once had one that was +40 thou on the piston and had about a tenth of the compression it should have had, it also had "lift" in both side that was probably 1.5mm rather than a few thou and that ran like a Swiss watch.

Mine was just the same, plenty of lift in the crank but it didn’t knock, even under load. The extra “running clearance” did make it a touch leaky though!

If you do extract the bearings for replacement, ISTR there is a sort of key that you need to remove first.
