One of the numbers gives date of manufacture but cant decipher which.

Looking at the photo it would say the crank case plate is wrong ant the engine number is the flywheel one as it has a ml mag

ML mags were phased out for the RS in 1937.

A working ML mag is probably worth as much as a working unrestored D! I'd be tempted to look round for a good RS1 mag and swap them over, keeping the ML in the airing cupboard until I bought a nice pre-1937 A, B or shaft-drive D for it to go on. But that's just me finding a reason to buy more engines!

Default finished

Been a long time, and its just another D but i thought i'd finish this thread off







I managed to find all the missing parts in the end, the paint is not original and there are drips of blue and black on it in places, but I couldn't bring myself to re-paint it, I think it has a nice honest look about it.
