Default Auction of Lister engines 13th July

May be of interest, Friday the 13 July in Congleton Cheshire, a Whittaker & Biggs is having an old boys toys for sale which includes a dozen Listers along with a lot of other stuff. When the catalogue is on line you should be able to view it on Thursday 12 July, maybe even earlier, and viewing is on that day 3 to 7pm. The auction will be on line and the online catalogue will have photos of all the items. The auction starts at 10am on the Friday. Should be under the Household goods section.

Its easy to tell the auctioneers do not have a clue what they are selling. Some of the descriptions and estimates are completely wrong. Will be interesting to see what stuff sells for.

Ha ha, yes they are a bit off aren't they. I like the blue engine with pressure gauge.

Funnily enough I liked the blue engine as well, thought it may go with the blue engine I have

Lot 416; a "Galvanised chicken feeder". Cleverly disguised as a trickle milk cooler, presumably to confuse the galvanised hens? The estimated price isn't too far out though.

Lot number 466, the "Lister" engine which looks suspiciously like a "Cooper" pump, has got my interest!!

I counted 10 Lister Ds and a couple of pumps.

Lots were rumoured to come from a scrapman who had lost his storage facility. I've no idea if this was true or not.
Here are the bid prices for most of the engine related lots.
The commision was 20% (or 23% for internet) to be added to the bid price. No VAT on commission.
Most of the engines were painted, basic restoration quite some years ago, and were either on castors or 4 wheel bogies. Only one engine had a flat belt pulley fitted. All had silencers and some had handles.

431A Villiers C30 - 20
455 Honda 6400 (auctioneer said it was working, everyone there knew it was siezed ) sold to internet - 20
462 Lister D Spec 28DH - 75
463 Lister D Spec 26DH p/p - 65
464 Williams & James vacuum milking pump & fittings - 32
465 Lister D Spec 13D shaftie - 80
466 Cooper of Wisbech water pump - 60
467 Lister D Spec DH2 - 65
468 Lister D Spec 26D2H with pulley - 90
469 Lister H2 water pump type PS6 (very low pressure) - 110
470 Lister D Spec DH2 - 70
471 Lister D Spec 23DH - 75
472 Petter AA1 diesel - 100
473 Lister D Spec 28DH - 90
474 Lister and other named spanners, tools, 4 wheels, ~20 used spark plugs - 80
475 Lister shearer sharpening wheel - 10 (probably a bargain)
476 Lister Domestic water pump - 75
477 Lee Howl water pump (described as a blue engine!) - 70
478 Speed shafts (x2) for grinding wheels - 28
480 Suffolk mower engine - 10
481 Lister D Spec 28DH2 and another Lister D dissembled as spares - 125

Average price for a Lister D was 88 inc commission.
