It looks to be original paint Martin but I am not a fan of the "oily rag" so it will be painted

Good news, tank strap found! Good job you're painting the engine as the strap is in shiny MB green! PM me with where to send it and I'll put it in the post later this week.

Here's a very short 1940 British Pathe clip of a Zwicky fuel bowser (complete with A28s) in action. You can see it from around 2:58 to 3:05. Not a long clip but the only one I know of.

No reason why you shouldn't paint it, I always feel it is up to the individual, not the heaving masses of the Forum.

Nice find, you can see the engine quite clearly if you look at the stills.
