It was about time you got a proper engine Rob! Looks like an A28s, will have a proper look when I get on the computer later, can't see much on this phone.

It is Jules, got the proper bend on the exhaust as well. And as for a "proper" engine, this is the 3rd A I have owned....

A Zwicky bowser job then, any idea what date the engine is Rob? An email to David OBE should reveal some history, mine went back to Lister for recon and resale after the war. I have an old Zwicky refuelling advert I can send you for your rally info board if you like? Anyway, better get on now, got a garage to tidy!

I think it is late 1940 early '41 going by the numbers. If I can have a copy of the ad I would be chuffed.

Things I would like for it are...

1 tank bracket, probably make this.
Return pipe, again make this,
Exhaust silencer as I think they should be the bigger 2 part one on the Zwicky,
Bolt on pulley, again, could make one.

That's a nice early Battle of Britain era one, well done!

I'm almost certain I've got an original A28s tank strap in my spares box, which you are welcome to, I'll have a look for it tomorrow when I'm in the shed. I haven't got a spare chicken though, bolt on or otherwise, so can't help with the pullet!

If you need a new disc type diaphragm for the breather assembly you can get them from SEP, as the A28s shared the same breather cover and diaphragm type as the CS diesel. Here you go: http://www.stationaryengineparts.com...gm-2288-0.html McGowan does replacement steel carb chamber tops with the right type of flat brass safety chain if you're after one.

Anyway, I'll PM you for the address to send stuff to once I've dug the tank strap out of the shed. Nice engine that, I'll look forward to seeing it at Astle Park next year.

Chicken? No chickens here apart from the egg layers.

Thanks for that Jules, will be in touch.

Had another look around the A tonight, the "clonk" that can be heard on the video is in fact end float on the crankshaft so a bit of shimming needed there I reckon, also found a NOS banjo bolt and nut for the fuel return pipe, wait to see if Jules turns up trumps with a tank strap before I rework the return pipe. I thought one of the keys was missing a head but that turned out to be crap in the keyway outside of the key cover, once that was removed the head was there, large as life.

Looks like the makings of a good engine Rob. I couldn't tell from the pictures - is that original paint or an old restoration? Do you plan to paint?
