Post Villers mk12 what year & usage

i picked up a nice kick start villers for a fiver at a local rally im not sure on the usage and year any ideas guys?

Looks like a grass cutter engine, one of the larger 24" type.

That series of engines was around from the 1950's onwards.

thanks i was thinking somthing like that its a 120cc villers its says mk 12,hs on the plate

yeah the mk12 is a 120cc version of the 98cc mk10.

Mine is a high speed model and so has a lighter piston.

thats nice mine doesent have a brass flywheel im not sure on the piston ethier ill have to check

it could be off an atco kick start

could be it has a nice strong pulley on it so it was driving somthing all its life

Regarding its accurate age, check the flywheel rim. You should have a series of stamped numbers/letters. There should be long series of number then a space then two numbers which should relate to the year, ie you might have 123456789 66, the 66 bit means 1966. Not all villiers have these stampings however. You might be lucky. If your flywheel hasnt been stamped you have very little chance of accurately dating it. If your plate is stamped Mk12 HS, the HS bit means High Speed.

It looks to be a very complete engine. Your missing the cap off the silencer, but I wish I could find a villiers that complete. Mine have all been basket case jobs, and needed a ton of spares to get going again.

yess thankyou we have a breaking point it does have numbers on the flywheel also its a high speed model too aparentlly according to the google search some kickstart mk12s were used in the army i wouldent of thought it would of been on a mower becuase the only kick start ones would of been the villers mk1

it says "M26630"VILLERS"ENGLAND this is on the flywheel

also randomlly stamped is
R325B,A71E.559
anyideas?
