So, the magnets arrived yesterday and this morning I stuck two onto the rotor, just held in place by their own magnetism
I spun the thing up with my battery drill and bingo, 20 -28 volts across the windings, I wired up a 12v led lamp and it lit up, a bit flashy at slow speed but at around 1400rpm its fine
I think once I link all the phases and rectify them it will suit me fine
