Default Single flywheel A.

Hi, I have been offered a single flywheel A that other than the fact it has been sleeved looks totally unmolested. I do not know what spec it is but it has caged valves and a stubby fuel tank mounted over the magneto (Tank is like a short D type item with the curved surface pointing upwards) The seller said it is a runner. My question is, roughly what should I pay for it?

As little as possible! Nice engine though.

could be a Spec A10 up to Spec 15, the tank is correct for all, as for price a lot more than a later standard A type.

Default Lister A

Hi
The spec 15 has twin flywheels and larger cage valves. Only 33 tank cooled spec, A50 324 spec A 10, hopper cooled made spec A11 66 spec, A51 45. As for a price for your engine I would like to see a photo. There have been a few sold on ebay over the past year from 150 to over 500. Remember you cant be the buyer and the seller get him to tell you what he wants for it

Thanks for the replies. The engine in question is hopper cooled. When I get the time I will get over there again and see if I can drag it out side to get a better look and a picture of it.

Sounds a nice engine Dan. One thing to factor into the value of any engine is whether it is on decent trolley. A decent trolley should as a few 'a to an engines market value. If on an original trolley it should add several more 's.

I know of an very early and original (but mechanically restored) Lister A that sold last year for 750.

Best of luck with finding out more about the engine
