I always have a board on display, and some folk (mostly the ladies I find, smaller feet so can stand closer to the fence? ) actually read the information. I don't put my forum 'handle' on it though as at one time I had various aliases on several different forums.

I'm the same, I often wonder as I'm snapping away down the engine line which engines are being shown by forum members. I try and remember to post a "anyone going to......" thread and it's recently worked when I spoke to Pete (Windrush) at Bidford. It's a bit late when members say that's my engine when I post the photo's on here

Default Information Boards.

This is a bugbear of mine; I find it remarkable that enthusiasts go to the trouble of acquiring an interesting engine, expend considerable time, and effort in restoring it, yet cannot go to the trouble of producing a board to tell the public nor their fellow enthusiasts anything about it. When taking photographs for an article or for my own use I need to be able to caption the picture:- engine make, model, horsepower, serial number, year of manufacture, and owner's name as a minimum. If the owner isn't providing this basic information; then there is no point in taking a picture of the engine!
Barry.

Rally's should make it a necessary requirement on the rally form.

Some do, so you fill it in and then nothing in the programme. Most rallies that still have a programme if you actually look at it it says bugger all. Strumpshaw the other week had Name, make, year and location and that was it!

I think that the only rally programmes I have with the full details listed, owner/serial number/history of exhibit etc, are the ones from Elvaston? We are at Sheffield Steam next weekend, the entry form wanted everything listed about the engine etc yet they don't even have programmes so it seems rather pointless to me and they are not the only rally like that. Having said that it is possibly an insurance issue though, I know that side of things has been tightened up and maybe the insurers need to know exactly what they might be dealing with should anything unforseen happen.
