Default Greetings All...

Hello Folks,
I've been reading the forum since I got wind of a Lister D which had my name on it. I've already found the info and chat here to be brilliantly useful and I'm looking forward to sliding into the whole stationary engine thing :-)
So, last week I picked her up, she'd been in a shed for a couple of years but was "last seen running" as they say. I had to wait till Sunday for a fettling session but, crikey! Cleaned the contact breaker, cleaned and gapped the plug, checked the oil; three turns of the starting handle later she was going!!

All in, the condition is pretty sound but after a couple of hours settling in there's a few bits to sort out which you'll all be hearing of in the coming weeks I'm sure.
Bit of a knocking sound which looks like it's coming from the gears, big end and the usual suspects etc all check out but it's early days yet eh?
My aim is to get her on a trolley and down to the Kington show in August: to that end I think I need to join the insurance scheme - should I get insurance for both my partner and I (we'll both be tending the engine) or, as there's only one engine (at the mo) is it just me that needs insuring?

She's been named Polly by the way...

Looking forward to all this,
Steve.

Yes, I've heard it described as the ideal beginner's engine, not that I had much choice, it sort of came my way... I must say though, IMHO the design is superbly elegant, and just oozes form through function.
Also I'm hoping that spares availability etc is good and not too costly as (like many folk these days) I need another excuse to spend cash like a hole in the head!

It's a long time since I've been down to Suffolk but I guess everywhere's been fairly sunny recently ;-)

Cheers,
Steve

Cool Spare Parts

Hi Steve,

It's always worth placing a wanted post on the forum if you need any parts, I have been able to get some very reasonably priced spare parts for my D this way. Also keep an eye on the for sale posts, parts are often offered like this.

Cheers, Gerry.
