Salisbury axle standard on a late 109". A real swine it was to rebuild too..

Or, if the replacement parts are made incorrectly... Like thrust washers with to great a radius...

I had the starter motor off my dad's SIIA diesel under my bench for years, flipping heavy old beast

I had a really sweet running 2.25 in my SIII Lightweight.

You really have to worry about the wavy thrust washers, or rather you worry if they have been tempered or not.
Ask Volvo, I'm sure they will remember the early 80's recall that cost them millions.
World wide 6 months production of 240/260 were effected, all needed a rebuild, all new crown wheels/pinions, all bearing and seals, 11 hours labour per car.

More usually seen carrying engines, the Land Rover was on wedding duties yesterday, getting my Dad to the ceremony in good time - much to my relief!
