Default Bradford gas engine company (open crank) dating

As title, just picked up a 1 1/2 hp bradford open crank. Just wondering what sort of date it is ? The brass plate on the water hopper states no.4296. Any info will be great, thanks.

Thanks for that. How did you find that out ? Do you know how to find out where it was bought when new ? I think its a local engine (cumbria). Cheers
