Four wheel drive lets you get more firmly stuck than two wheel drive, and further away from any hope of rescue!

Although we have a few 4X4's in the family, first rule is: If it looks like you'll get stuck, Don't Go There!

I'm OK in the snow on my Rangie All Terrain tyres, but they are a road-biased tread and I wouldn't go onto a muddy field with it.

Philip has bigger than standard knobbly tyres on his Discovery, but even that can get stuck.
